We are a dance troupe based on the east-side (of Seattle, Washington). We present family-oriented Middle-Eastern dance performances, including group and solo pieces. These pictures are from our performance at the Mediterranean Fantasy Festival, on July 17, 2000, in West Seattle.
To open, four troupe members performed a cheerful and flirtatious basket dance, and then two more dancers joined in to do the upbeat, sociable Folk Trio.
After this, the light-hearted mood changed to a more intense and mesmerizing one, as the last two dancers joined in for our Sword Dance.
Set to music from Hossam Ramzy's "Immortal Egypt," and choreographed collaboratively by all eight troupe members, this dramatic dance mixed trance-like elements with heavy drumming beats.
We balanced the swords on our heads, hips, shoulders, and fingertips, and moved in ever-changing patterns on the stage. The debut performance of our new dance proved to be a big success! Veils of the Nile -
