Saint Salamander
Acrylic Paint on Canvasboard, and Brass

Salamander looking especially beatific and virtuous, something he's very good at. In this piece I'm trying to imitate the style of Russian Orthodox and Byzantine icons, with their beautiful gold and silver ornamented overlays or cases. This one is made of thin brass which I embossed with designs of tuna cans, fish bones, and catnip mice. This piece was part of the Mimic-Octopus PET show, in 2003.
