Salamander the Hierophant

Here I'm trying to imitate the style of Russian Orthodox and Byzantine icons, with their beautiful gold and silver ornamented overlays or cases. This one is made of thin brass which I embossed with designs of tuna cans, fish bones, and catnip mice. Salamander looks so much like he is pontificating in this picture. This piece was part of the Mimic-Octopus PET show, in 2003.
