I created this as my Christmas card design for 2003. It is in honor of anyone anywhere who actively does something, however small, to make the world a better place or to create hope, beauty, and peace.

There are a lot of images of angels out there, and I think it is a deep-seated desire in all humans to be rescued by an external power greater than ourselves. While I share that desire, and I wanted to create an image of hope, this year I also wanted to paint an image that's a little different. This one shows someone who at first glance appears to be an angel — there is the impression of a halo and wings — but who upon a closer look might actually only be someone who is in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. On the other hand, this image is also in honor of anyone who is able to recognize the divine in others.
