Altar to Spring

Unlike all the other art I've included here, I didn't do this within the past year or so. But I noticed such a prevalent 'halo' theme going on that I thought it would be fun to include it here even though I actually did it back in, I think, the spring of 2000. I remember I created it specifically for an art show, the theme of which was 'Spring,' but because I did not know the exact submission deadline my piece was too late to be in the show, even though for about two weeks I'd done nothing but paint for hours and hours every evening after work to get ready for it. I was crushed... so disappointed I went home and cried.

It's hard to tell in this photo, but her hair is ferns and ivy, her skin is woodgrain, and her dress is bark. There is a bird's nest with blue robin's eggs in it on the altar, in front of her belly.
