Salamander & Miette say hello

Hi! My name is Salamander. I'm a Balinese. A lot of people don't know what that is. It's a cat like me! (Basically a Balinese is a Siamese, except with slightly longer fur, and—in my case—handsome facial stripes.)

I live with three other cats. Saro and Miette live in the house with me, and Zilla lives on the front porch. I visit with Zilla through the door.

Saro and Zilla are really old... Saro is about 14 years old, and Zilla is going on 13. I had my first birthday in June, and Miette had her first birthday in August. I used to be a callow young kitten, but now I am dignified and mature, wise in the ways of the world.

My favorite things to do are to play fetch with Jenny (my human) and chase and wrestle with Miette. I am the local fetch champion—I can leap at least four feet into the air, and catch a small toy in my teeth! Everyone is amazed at my amazing athleticism. I even amaze myself.

Another thing I love to do is carry things around and put them in different places in the house. Anything small and light enough to pick up in my teeth is fair game. Don't leave folded paper money around, or it will disappear! Also I like to put my toys in different places, such as in my food dish.

Here is an especially fun trick: take a small toy (something spongy and absorbent is best) and drop it in your water dish. Then take it back out, and carry the dripping-wet toy over to your human and drop it in her lap. I guarantee you will get an amusing reaction!

Here I am with my buddy Miette. She's almost 2 months younger than me, but she's pretty feisty anyway. She's also very patient. She lets me gnaw on her and never gets upset. She's very timid with most humans, but she gets along great with Saro and me. We have a lot of fun stampeding around the house. I think Saro is just glad that I have a playmate of my own age now, so I don't bug her as much as I used to!
Here I am in one of my favorite spots. This is a great place from which to survey my realm. Nobody can get up higher than me! And the very still, quiet people who live up here are relaxing company. But sometimes I knock them off onto the floor anyway, just to liven things up.
This is Miette in one of her favorite spots. She can get very anxious about food, and when she does her meow develops an incredible vibrato, like a tragedy-queen opera singer. She sounds like a baby goat or a lamb—"baa-a-a!" She insanely and rabidly loves bits of cheese, but has no interest at all in my favorite crunchy kitty treats. There's no accounting for taste!

Speaking of meows, Saro sounds like a duck: "wak! wak!" I am the only one in the house with a proper meow.
This is us again. We always like sleeping on Jenny's bed, plus today we noticed she had left a comfy wool sweater lying on it! We immediately appropriated it.
